What if the Cold War Went Nuclear?

In THIS scenario, thousands of bombs are detonated all over the world 10 times LARGER than Hiroshima. The remaining firestorms are hellscapes, the size of states. If you have survived the nuclear blast, imagine looking out into the distance and seeing an endless fire globe. However, the extent of this nuclear winter depends entirely on how many nuclear devices are detonated.

True nuclear war, total darkness, is only when every nuke on Earth is actually detonated. It is unlikely that this will happen.

According to Robert Lamb, if a war occurred with the detonation of about 12,000-18,000 nukes, as in this alternative scenario, the SOUTHERN Hemisphere could end up fine, even if it faced harsh conditions.
